FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Gallery 181 has assembled 36 artists from across the country, and also 1 from as far away as Japan to participate in the upcoming "Facets of Transformation" exhibition. Being that the concept and actuality of the transformative experience manifests itself in many different forms, the exhibition will be divided into 4 major "arcana" of evolutionary description.

"Construction/Deconstruction" will pertain to the environmental changes that occur due to the hand of manmade influence. The work tends toward the eerily silent state of abandoned property and the possibility and inevitability of regrowth. "The Natural World" encompasses the dynamic energy present in the development and sustainment of environmental life cycles. "Alchemy" relates to the relationship between the elements of the artwork and the work itself, and how one component affects the other and the whole. It also pertains to the relationship that the artist develops with his/her piece, and the changes that occur from one moment to the next within the process of creation. "Personal/Spiritual" is a reflection of the essence of internal enlightenment. This can stem from personal experience, ideology, and spiritual awakening, ad well as how the past affects the present and the future.

Lawrence, MA, home of Gallery 181, is the perfect venue, as the transformation of the city itself has inspired the inception of this exhibition. There is a cultural explosion brewing in the city, and this has made Lawrence a vortex for creative possibility. It is the positive utilization of the remnants of the past – the alchemical transformation of a city – which is creating a united and properous population.

The exhibition will run from March 5th – April 26th , 2007. An artists’ reception will take place on Friday, March 16th , from 5:30-8:00pm. Everyone is welcomed. We will be enjoying the music of The Existential Detectives (http://www.academic-editor.com/existential_detectives), with members Donna and Belanga from Massachusetts and Rhode Island, serving up some eclectic fun! Hours for the gallery are Monday through Friday from 10am-5pm, and Saturday from 12pm-5pm. For more information please call (978) 741-7979 or email us at mailto:gallery-181@hotmail.com..
